Album: Martyrs - Single
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Martyrs, martyrs
Tied up and bound
On a stake burning flames licking their fragile flesh
As it melts away from the frame
It melts away
From the frame
Martyrs dying for their God
The flesh may fail, but the soul will never
Ever be destroyed
Be destroyed
Persecuted by not abandoned
Struck down, but not destroyed
The flesh may fail, but the soul will never
Ever be destroyed
Be destroyed
Afflicted
They raise their voices high
Sing the martyr's song
In death
They are never more alive
Alive
Martyrs dying for their God
The flesh may fail, but the soul will never
Ever be destroyed
Be destroyed
Persecuted by not abandoned
Struck down, but not destroyed
The flesh may fail, but the soul will never
Ever be destroyed
Be destroyed
And I am both martyr and the judge
I am the victim, at the same time, I'm the grudge
I'm condemning and I am sending myself to a stake that I have made
To kill everything inside of me that I hated
And through the ashes and in the flames what I am hoping that you will see
Is that there that what remains is still nameless but it's still me
The crowds they will cheer and make clear their favorite winner
But I am the unwitting sinner that entered a stadium that is wreaking of death
But it is here that I am at peace so take me
My body is only a rental and tell those powers that be
That soon they will see something higher
My ashes will never summarize my hope in something more
I believe in my God, my Savior and my Lord
Martyrs, martyrs
The flames may destroy the body, but not the soul
For His spirit dwells within them forever
Within them forever
Forever
